This tour takes you off the beaten track so you can get to know Peru’s Sacred Valley like a local. You will have the opportunity to experience Andean culture as you visit a local market and have two traditional meals. You can also explore and learn the history behind the Ruins of Urco and Pynkoylluna. The communities you visit have beautiful natural landscapes, with mountains and a waterfall that will take your breath away.

Start and end location: Sacred Valley
8:30 am — Pick up from your hotel in the Sacred Valley
8:30 am-9:00 am — Private transportation will take you to the town of Urubamba, where you will eat a light Andean-style breakfast in the Market of Small Producers.
9:00 am-10:30 am — Drive to the Pachar Community to visit the hidden Incan Caves, an ancient ceremonial site with incredible stone carvings.
10:30 am-12:20 pm — Visit a historical site off the beaten track with the Ruins of Pynkoylluna in Ollantaytambo. These ruins offer a spectacular view of the entire town of Ollantaytambo.
13:00 pm-14:00 pm — An indigenous local “mamacha” will be waiting for us in her own home in the community of Huycho with a delicious lunch cooked with ingredients native to the area and prepared using traditional ceramic cookware. As you enter the home of a native Andean you will gain a deeper understanding of life in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
14:00 pm-14:40 pm — Transportation will take you to the Andean community of Arin, where you will go on a small trek up a mountainside to a waterfall. This truly beautiful spot has a unique and impressive view of the Sacred Valley.
14:40 pm-15:00 pm — You will have the opportunity to drink a traditional “Chicha de Jora” (corn beer) in a typical “Chicheria” (corn beer brewery). The “Chicheria” is the lifeblood of the socio-economic community in the Sacred Valley. You will learn how Chicha de Jora is produced and how it contributes so greatly to local Andean culture.
15:00 pm-16:00 pm — Visit the hidden and Sacred Ruins of Urco, a mysterious and forgotten ritual ground. You will receive a brief explanation of the sites and you will have some time to walk around and explore at your leisure.
16:00 pm-16:30 pm — Drive back to your hotel.
