It is also at this market where you will get all the ingredients needed for the cooking class. If there is time, we will also have the opportunity to eat a light Andean breakfast.

Next, at 10:00 am, you will then be ferried to the local family host, where they will welcome you and get ready for the cooking class. The host will show you how to make “Huacatay” sauce – a delicious mushroom stew with rice – and we will also use some of the organic products that she has harvested. If “Huacatay” sauce is not to your liking for any reason, you could also suggest another specific Andean dish that you would like to try.

Then, you will drink a traditional corn beer “Chicha de Jora” in a typical “Chicheria”. This sacred beverage of the Incans served in the “Chicheria” is the lifeblood of the social culture of communities in the Sacred Valley. You will also join in a light discussion on how “Chicha de Jora” is produced, and how it contributes so greatly to the local Andean culture.
