Tour Information

Duration: 2 days

Start/End Location: Hotel pick-up/drop-off in Cusco

Itinerary

Day 1: Ride Along Scenic Trails in the Inca Sacred Valley
Your horseback riding trip begins with 5:30 am hotel pick-up in Cusco and transfer to the small rural community of Ollantaytambo. Here, you’ll head to the local stables to meet your friendly horse and your local bilingual guide.

After receiving a brief introduction and safety information, you’ll set out along scenic trails that wind through the Sacred Valley toward the turquoise Iqsayccocha Lake. You’ll stop here for lunch then continue onward toward your campsite at Chacchapata (12,203 feet/3750 meters). Today, keep a look out for llama, alpaca, and Andean geese along the trail. At camp in the evening, be sure to look up for spectacular views of the Southern sky.

Day 2: Ride to Huacawasi and Sink into Hot Springs
Wake up at 6:00 am to enjoy a hot camp-made breakfast, then ride toward the small village of Hucawasi.  Today, keep a look out for plenty of llama, alpaca, and wild rabbit. You’re likely to share the trail with Inca shepherds and villagers using the path for daily commutes.

At Hucawasi, say good bye to your 4-legged companion and trail team. Enjoy lunch in town with your guide and take a swim in the natural hot springs that flow just outside of town! Soothe your muscles and relax in the mineral-rich water.

From Hucawasi, you’ll begin your 3-hour return journey back to Cusco. Your driver will drop you off at your hotel.
