Finally, the tour ends with a visit to Puca Pucara and Tambomachay.

On the way to the first mountain pass, the Abra Warmihuañusca (“Dead Woman’s Pass”), you will have the chance to see some llamas and alpacas grazing on a high altitude plant called ichu. You will also pass through the cloud forest which is home to the Andean bear and many different kinds of birds. It is recommended that you carry plenty of candies, chocolates and coca leaves to keep your sugar level high and help with altitude sickness. Later, you’ll head down into the Pacaymayu valley to set up camp.

Later, you’ll pass Yanacocha and the cloud forest on our way to Sayacmarca. This beautiful semicircular construction has multi-leveled enclosures, narrow streets, fountains, patios and irrigation canals.

Then, you’ll easily climb to the third pass at Abra Phuyupatamarca. Finally the day’s trek will take you down the long stone steps to Wiñaywayna, an impressive Inca agricultural center with several terraces and both religious and urban sectors.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

From this fabulous spot, you will have the chance to see the sunrise over the sacred citadel of Machu Picchu. From here you’ll descend from the Inca Trails to Machu Picchu, entering through the “House of the Guardians.”

You’ll register and drop your backpack at the control point. Immediately afterwards, you will start a 2 hour guided tour of the Inca citadel.
