Explore Cusco’s historic center and culture on this Peru trek and adventure. Speak Quechua with Sacred Valley locals. Trek the ancient Inca Trail. 10 Days/9 Nights


Day 1: Arrival in Lima

You will have transportation assistance from Lima International airport to your hotel. Once you are settled in, you will be briefed on the Peru trek and adventure tour as well as the vouchers that will cover all services during the tour.

Day 2: Lima Sightseeing Tour

You’ll spend the morning relaxing and resting up before your unforgettable Peru trek and adventure starts. After grabbing lunch on your own, you will be picked up from the hotel at 1:30 pm for a guided tour to the “City of Kings.”

This excursion offers the best of Lima from all of its three historical periods: pre-Hispanic, colonial and contemporary.

Day 3: Flight to Cusco / Cusco Sightseeing Tour

You’ll enjoy breakfast in the hotel before heading to Lima airport for your flight to Cusco. You’ll be welcomed upon arrival and transported to your hotel. The morning will be free for you to relax and acclimate.

Your Peru trek and adventure tour continues at 1:30 pm when you will be picked up from your hotel to tour the Koricancha Temple of Sun, a very important Inca shrine. Later, you’ll visit the impressive Cathedral in the main square. The tour continues in Sacsayhuaman on a hill that looms over the city. Then, you’ll visit Qenqo, a singular limestone outcrop used for religious purposes. Finally, the tour ends with a visit to Puca Pucara and Tambomachay.

Day 4: Urubamba River Rafting

You will be picked up at 8:30 am after breakfast at the hotel. After a less than 2 hour drive, you’ll arrive to the banks of the Upper Urubamba River to a private campground at “Casa Cusi.” Professional Rafting Guides will provide you with all the proper equipment and safety information necessary. The excursion includes two and a half hours of rafting on class II and III rapids.

At the end of the rafting trip, a private bus will be waiting to take us back to Casa Cusi where you will enjoy a hot sauna and a full course lunch. You’ll return to Cusco around 5:00 pm in the afternoon.

Day 5: Mountain Biking Moray & Maras Salt Mines

You will be picked up from the hotel after breakfast at 8:00 am. Then you’ll take a bus to the village of Chequerec (Chinchero) to begin the ride. As you pass the Huaypo Lagoon, you will see a spectacular panorama of green fields that melt into the white, snow-capped peaks of the Urubamba and Vilcabamba mountain ranges. You’ll take an easy to moderate bike ride to the archaeological site of Moray.

Next, you’ll head to Maras to enjoy a delicious picnic. After, you’ll take a breezy 1 hour ride down through the peaceful Andean countryside. A lunch break will renew your energy to continue riding to the nearby salt terraces. You’ll end the day with a 40 minute downhill ride to the Sacred Valley (Pichingoto). Around 4:30 pm, you’ll head back to Cusco for the night.

Day 6: Cusco / Soraypampa to Huayracmachay

You’ll be picked up bright and early at 4:00 am in private transportation. Then, you’ll enjoy a scenic drive along the shores of the Apurimac River to the starting point of the trek at Soraypampa. Along the way, you’ll cross the towns of Mollepata and Cruzpata.

Your hike will begin from the base of Mt. Salcantay. Soon after, you’ll begin a 2 hour uphill climb to Soyroccocha. From there, you’ll continue an ascent to the highest point of the trek: Abra Huayracmachay at more than 4500 meters. Afterwards, you’ll begin a descent into the cloud forest. Along the way to the campsite, you’ll come across the remains of an ancient Inca path.

Day 7: Huayracmachay to Lucmabamba

After breakfast, you’ll continue our hike with an easy downhill walk along the Salcantay River surrounded  by luscious vegetation, beautiful waterfalls, and coffee plantations. The previously dry landscape starts to change into a cloud forest full of trees. After a little more than 4 hours you’ll arrive to the town of Colpapampa where the Salkantay River becomes the Santa Teresa River.

You’ll take a brief break before continuing the descent to the banks of the Totora River. Here you can relax in the thermo-medicinal waters. Later you’ll continue our hike, passing waterfalls and settlements on the way to the campsite.

Day 8: Lucmabamba / Llactapata / Aguas Calientes

After breakfast, you’ll walk past beautiful banana, coffee, and avocado plantations on the way to Llactapata. Here you will be in the territory of the spectacled bears and parrots. Once you cross the river, you’ll begin a 2-3 hours climb up to Abra Q’elloqasa where you will have a stunning view of Machu Picchu.

Later, you will take in a breath-taking view of both Machu Picchu and the Salkantay from the recently restored Llaqtapata. You’ll hike down through lush bamboo forests, orchards and coffee plantations for about 2 hours to the Aobamba River and hydroelectric plant where you will catch a train to Aguas Calientes.

Day 9: Visit Machu Picchu / Back to Cusco
On the last day of your Peru trek and adventure trip, you’ll have breakfast at the hotel before a full day excursion to Machu Picchu. Here, you will embark on a guided tour that features all the main attractions. You’ll visit the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, and the Temple of the Three Windows as well as houses, warehouses, and a large central square connected by narrow roads and steps and surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side. After the tour, you’ll have time to explore at your own pace.

Additionally, you’ll have the chance to take an hour walk up to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) or climb to the top of Wayna Picchu which offers an incredible view of the whole sanctuary. You’ll head back to Cusco by train in the afternoon.

Day 10: Depart Cusco / Lima International Departure

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken to the airport to catch your flight back to Lima on your way home.
