5 Days/4 Nights

Day 1: Cusco – KM 82 – Llactapata

Peru Inca Trail guides will pick you up at 7:00 am to buy last minute supplies before stopping by the impressive Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. Then, you’ll meet the support team of traditional porters before embarking on the famous Inca trail to Machu Picchu. The trek meanders along the banks of the Urubamba River to our campsite for the night at Llactapata. Here you’ll have time to explore the ruins and much more.

You will only need to carry your daypack while trekking as all camping equipment is carried by the porters. All camp chores are done for us and delicious food is served by a cook and his helpers.

Meals Included: Box-lunch, Dinner

Day 2: Llactapata – Lluluchupampa

You’ll trek up the Cusichaca valley to the quaint town of Huallyabamba, the last inhabited place on the trail. The path continues on up past hummingbirds and a stunted cloud forest. Our camp is the beautiful grassy area at Llulluchupampa where you will have outstanding views down the valley.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Lluluchupampa – Phuyopatamarca

Today will be the most challenging day of the trek on the Peru Inca trail. You’ll get an early start and head out to the highest point of the trail – the impressive Warmiwanusca (Dead woman’s pass). Then, you’ll descend into the Pacasmayo valley before climbing once again to the Inca ruins of Rucuracay.

The second pass of the day will give you incredible views of the Vilcabamba range. You’ll walk on a well-preserved Inca pathway on the way to visit the Sayacmarca ruins. You’ll continue along the ridge, passing through tunnels and fantastic views and a slight ascent brings you to the Phuyupatamarca ruins (the place above the clouds), where you will camp for the evening.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Phuyopatamarca – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes

After an early morning chance to catch the sunrise coming over the surrounding snow-capped mountains of Salcantay and Veronica, you will say goodbye to our porters with a traditional song and dance.

The final day hiking will lead you into the cloud forest and down a series of Inca stairways to the ruins of Wiñay Waynas. Finally, you’ll head back through the cloud forest to Inti Punku, the gateway of the Sun where you will catch your first glimpse of Machu Picchu. Then you’ll pass through the ruins to catch a bus down to your hostel in the colorful town of Aguas Calientes.

After the tour, you’ll have time to explore at your own pace.
