Itinerary

Begin your Rainbow Mountain day hike with 4:00 am hotel pick-up and transfer to the trailhead at Chillca (12400 feet/3700 meters). Here, wake up with hot coffee or tea and a hearty breakfast before setting out on the rugged road towards Rainbow Mountain.

After a short walk, you’ll begin your 3-hour ascent into the Andes Mountains. Along the trail, you’ll encounter challenging climbs, gentle inclines, and plenty of llamas and alpacas grazing in nearby grasslands.

Once you arrive at Rainbow Mountain (17,000 feet/5200 meters), you’ll be able to explore the spectacular rock layers up close, and enjoy a breathtaking view of snow-capped Ausangate Mountain and Red Valley.

After you’ve explored, you’ll have the option to hike through Red Valley before returning to the car. On the way back to Cusco, you’ll stop for a well-earned lunch!
