Sacred Valley Bike Tour: Mountain bike your way through several lesser-known, but equally beautiful sites while still getting to see the wonders of Cusco, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu.


7 Days/6 Nights


Day 1: Arrive in Cusco / Cusco Sightseeing Tour

You’ll enjoy breakfast in the hotel before heading to Lima airport for your flight. Once in Cusco, you’ll be welcomed upon arrival and transported to your hotel. The morning will be free for you to relax and acclimate.

You will be picked up from the hotel at 1:30 pm to tour the Koricancha Temple of Sun, a very important Inca shrine. Later, you’ll visit the impressive Cathedral in the main square. Our tour continues in Sacsayhuaman on a hill that looms over the city. Then, you’ll visit Qenqo, a singular limestone outcrop used for religious purposes. Finally, the excursion ends with a visit to Puca Pucara and Tambomachay.

Day 2: Cusco / Sacred Valley of the Incas

After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll have a full day visit to the impressive Sacred Valley of the Incas as well as the Pisaq and Ollantaytambo archaeological sites. First, you’ll stop at the village of Qorao to take pictures of the gorgeous landscapes. Then you’ll head to Pisaq, an archaeological site and Indian market.

After lunch in the Sacred Valley, visit the Inca Fortress of Ollantaytambo that once protected the entrance to this part of the Valley from possible invasion from the other tribes. In the afternoon, you’ll head back to Cusco.

Day 3: Moray – Maras (by Bike)

The first part of the Sacred Valley bike tour heads out after breakfast at 8:30 am to catch the bus to Chequerec (Chinchero). You’ll pass the Huaypo Lagoon as our adventure to the archaeological complex of Moray begins. Here you will take in stunning views.

Continuing on towards Maras, you’ll ride downhill for about an hour before breaking for a delicious picnic lunch. With renewed energy, you’ll head out on a 40 minute ride to tour the nearby salt flats.

Later you’ll ride down to the Sacred Valley to take a bus to our camp in Calca near the Machacancha hot springs. After a tasty dinner, you can relax in the hot springs.

Day 4: Machacancha – Lares (by Bike)

At 7:00 am, you will be woken up with some morning tea, followed by breakfast an hour later. The second part of the Sacred Valley bike tour to Lares will start around 9:00 am. From here, you’ll ride downhill for about 20 minutes to the rural community of Pampa Corral. There, you will stop to enjoy a delicious lunch and rest up for the second part of the day.

After lunch, you’ll continue our incredible tour to Lares with a 20 km uphill ride. Your campsite for tonight is near the hot springs about 10 minutes from Lares so you will have the chance to relax in the springs in the evening.

Day 5: Lares – Calca (by Bike) / Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes

At 9:00 am you’ll take the bus back to Lares. Then the third and most exciting part of the Sacred Valley bike tour can begin with a 10 km ride down horseshoe routes and ancient Inca trails to the community of Torota.

After a tasty lunch, you will head out on a 3 hour ride to Calca. Here, you’ll go to Ollantaytambo to catch the train to Aguas Calientes.

Day 6: Machu Picchu / Back to Cusco

You’ll have breakfast at the hotel before a full day excursion to Machu Picchu where you will embark on a guided tour that features all the main attractions. You’ll visit the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, and the Temple of the Three Windows as well as houses, warehouses, and a large central square connected by narrow roads and steps and surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side. After the tour, you’ll have time to explore at your own pace.

Additionally, you’ll have the chance to take an hour walk up to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) or climb to the top of Wayna Picchu which offers an incredible view of the whole sanctuary. You’ll head back to Cusco by train in the afternoon.

Day 7: Depart Cusco

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken to the airport to catch your flight back to Lima on your way home.
