Take a scenic train ride across the Sacred Valley to reach the small town of Aguas Calientes. On your first day, explore a local wildlife park and get to know the local culture and community before relaxing at a boutique hotel in the evening. On day 2 of your experience, tour Machu Picchu with an experienced and passionate local guide, and discover the outstanding Lost City’s temples, palaces, mausoleums, and more.

Day One: Cusco Aguas Calientes Town Mandor Gardens
Your tour begins with hotel pick-up in Cusco and private transfer by car to the Ollantaytambo train station. From there, you’ll take the train through the amazing Sacred Valley along a winding river and past snow-capped mountains. You’ll arrive at Aguas Calientes after approximately 2 hours.

Upon arrival, you’ll check in to your hotel then enjoy lunch (not included) at one of many local restaurants. In the afternoon, you’ll group will head to the nearby Los Jardines de Mandor Wildlife Park — a small, community-run environmental protection initiative with colorful gardens and an abundance of waterfalls.

Day Two: Machupicchu Ollantaytambo Cusco
Your day will begin early at 4:30 am. After breakfast, transfer to the local bus terminal for the 30-minute ride to Machu Picchu city. Here, your guide will lead you through the magnificent city before the crowds arrive. Learn about the Inca and encounter their highly advanced society up-close as you explore the Temple of the Sun, the royal mausoleum, water fountains, aquaducts, and over 200 designated architectural wonders.

Later in the day, you’ll have the opportunity to explore on your own and hike to Sungate. From from the ancient “gate” of Machu Picchu, you’ll have a truly privileged view of the city and the surrounding mountainsides.

In the afternoon, say goodbye to Machu Picchu and return to Aguas Calientes. From there, take the 2-hour train ride back to Ollantaytambo and another 2-hour car ride to Cusco.

Hotel: Your Machu Picchu overnight tour includes one night at a 3-star hotel in Aguas Calientes, typically at La Cabaña (or similar). Your booked hotel will be listed on your confirmed invoice. Contact us at for available upgrades.

Transportation: Transportation includes round-trip transfer directly to/from your hotel in Cusco and to all locations on your itinerary. A train upgrade to the panoramic “Vistadome” is available upon request. Contact us at for details.

What’s Not Included

Huaynapicchu Hike (Optional): After touring Machu Picchu, you’ll have the opportunity to hike Huaynapicchu Mountain, a nearby mountain boasting spectacular views. The ascent and descent each takes approximately 45 minutes, and the gradient is quite steep.

The tour costs $25.00 USD per person and can be arranged upon request. Please contact us at at least one month before your arrival date so that this exciting extension may be accommodated.

Important Notes

Passport: You need your original passport in order to board the train to Aguas Calientes and enter Machu Picchu. It is recommended that you keep your passport on your person at all times to ensure access to itinerary destinations.

Vaccinations: There are no needed vaccinations for your Machu Picchu overnight tour other than your routine vaccinations. Other areas of Peru, most commonly the Amazon, do require additional treatment.
