On this Sillustani Puno Tomb Tour, venture off the beaten track to explore an archaeological jewel of the high Andean plains. The tall cylindrical towers of this site were built to bury the elite of the Pukara culture. When the Incas conquered the Pukara in the 1400s, they continued building the towers, improving on the technique. Explore the well-preserved tombs and admire their stone carvings. Start and End Location: Puno
At 14:00 pm, you will be picked up from your hotel and taken on a 40-minute bus ride to Sillustani. Along the way, appreciate fantastic views of Lake Titicaca and the pre-Inca Sillustani pre-Inca tomb. Once you get there, your knowledgeable tour guide will show you the burial site and tell you about the history of the site and Andean culture. From there, you can also take in panoramic views of Lake Umayo. Finally, you will head back to Puno. On the drive back, admire farmers’ thatched-roof houses, groups of alpacas and llamas, and the sunset. You’ll arrive back to Puno at about 17:00 pm.
