2 Days
Day 1
CUSCO – LIMATAMBO – MOLLEPATA
On the first day we will head to Limatambo and Mollepata. Along the way, we will stop at several excellent spots to observe species such as the Black-Chested Buzzard-Eagle, the Puna Ibis, the Spot-Winged Pigeon, the Andean Flicker, the Bare-Face Ground-Dove, the Peruvian Sierra-Finch, the Ash-Breasted Sierra-Finch and the Band-Tailed Sierra-Finch.
When we reach Limatambo, we will pause to look for the following birds: the White-Bellied Hummingbird, the Black-backed Grosbeak, the Golden-Billed Saltator and the Eared Dove. Once we have had plenty of observation time here, we will continue our journey towards Mollepata, where we will spend the night. Luckily, Mollepata is another great place to observe some local species. These include the Chestnut-Breasted Mountain-Finch, the Rusty-Fronted Canastero, the Koepcke’s Screech Owl, the Aplomado Falcon, the Rust and Yellow Tanager, the Cinereous Conebill, and the Black-Throated Flowerpiercer.
Day 2
MOLLEPATA TO SORAYPAMPA
After an early-morning breakfast at the hostel, we will travel to Soraypampa. Along the way, as well as once we arrive in Soraypampa, we will have fantastic opportunites to observe the following local species: the Creamy-Crested Spinetail, the Apurimac Spinetail, the Apurimac Brush-Finch, the Vilcabamba Thistletail, the White-Tufted Sunbeam, and the Vilcabamba Thistletail. Besides these, we can also observe several other species such as the Tufted Tit-Tyrant, the Purple-Backed Thornbill, the Tawny-Rumped Tyrannulet, the White-Banded Tyrannulet, the Crimson-Mantled Woodpecker, the Bar-Bellied Woodpecker, the D’orbigny’s Chat-Tyrant, the Red-Crested Cotinga, the Creamy-Winged Cinclodes, the Tit-Like Dacnis, the Andean Condor, the Mountain Caracara, the Variable Hawk and many more.
Our tour and services will end in Soraypampa, but the customers that booked the 2-day tour can return to Cuzco with the birding team.
