Itinerary

An early start to make the most of a memorable day on Vieques Island. Your guide and transfer will meet you in central San Juan, before you pass through the lively, Eastern coastal towns of Puerto Rico on your way to Ceiba. Here you will board the ferry to take you to the remote island of Vieques.

Once safely docked in Vieques, just take a moment to appreciate your stunning surroundings, one of the few remaining authentic Caribbean Islands, one that remains unspoiled by human traffic. Next you will have time to visit the Fortin Conde Marisol and learn about Puerto Rico’s ancient, colonial history.

From here, you will take a meandering wander through a wooded forest and see if you can listen out for any native wildlife. This short stroll will lead you directly to the iconic Black Sand Beach. Enjoy some time taking in the refreshing sea breeze and learn from your experienced guide about the origins of the color of this sand.

Subsequently you can then enjoy a beach, more characteristic of the idyllic Vieques Island; on Sun Bay Beach, you will have a few hours to roam freely, dream, sunbathe and snorkel in the glassy waters, before satiating your appetite with a light, picnic lunch. After a few hours revelling in the sunny bliss, your guide will offer you some horse food so you can tempt and greet the local wild horses.

To conclude the day, you will be offered the opportunity to try and buy some local artisan produce from a popular local eatery, before heading back to Puerto Rico’s mainland, no doubt exhausted but basking in the joy of such a memorable day.
