An exciting one day trek allowing you to take on one of Guatemala’s most challenging volcanos.
You start your trek at the base of Acatenango Volcano at an altitude of 1,600 meters (5,250 feet) above sea level. You will hike uphill for approximately six hours, stopping midway through the five kilometer ascent for lunch prepared by your guide. From camp at 3,000 meters (9,840 feet) soak up a magnificent panoramic view of Agua Volcano to the southeast, Lake Atitlan and Toliman, Atitlan and San Pedro Volcanos to the northwest, and Fuego Volcano to the south. You will then make the hike back to the base of Acatenango Volcano, arriving in Antigua around 18:00 pm or 19:00 pm. Depending on the group, expect to spend approximately eight hours hiking in total.
Minimum of 4 people for this tour. You need to be physically fit for this hike. The rapid change in elevation may affect your performance.
