Have a fun filled seven day exotic jungle adventure. Experience the natural wonders of the jungle, such as stunning sunrises with the birds chirping, breath taking sunsets atop ancient Mayan temples, and all the flora and fauna that comes along with it. You will see the archaeological sites El Mirador, Nakbé, Wakná, Florida, El Tintal, and La Muerta. You will enjoy healthy meals, professional guides, safe transportation, a 24/7 tour leader, and quality services to ensure a hassle free trip.

Day 1

Antigua to Flores.

4:00 am – Private shuttle from Antigua to Guatemala City Airport.
6:30 am – Domestic flight from Guatemala City Airport to Flores Airport.
7:30 am – Arrival and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2

8:00 am – Depart Flores.
13:00 pm – Lunch at El Guacute.
14:00 pm – Leave for El Tintal archaeological site.
16:00 pm – Visit El Tintal.
18:00 pm to 19:00 pm – Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

6:00 am – Breakfast.
7:00 am – Depart El Tintal.
10:00 am – Refreshments at El Zompopera rest area.
13:30 pm – Lunch and explore La Muerta.
15:00 pm – Set up camp at El Mirador.
17:00 pm to 18:00 pm – Watch the sunset.
18:00 pm to 19:00 pm – Dinner and relax. Overnight stay.

Day 4

5:00 am to 6:00 am – Watch the sunrise at El Mirador.
7:00 am – Breakfast.
8:00 am – Tour the archaeological site of El Mirador. (Includes refreshments)
12:00 pm – Lunch.
13:00 pm – Continue the tour.
17:00 pm to 18:00 pm – Watch the sunset.
19:00 pm – Dinner.
20:00 pm – Get together with site visitors. Overnight stay.

Day 5

7:00 am – Breakfast.
8:00 am – Begin return to Carmelita.
11:00 am – Rest and eat a boxed lunch in El Zompopero.
15:00 pm – Arrive at El Tintal, explore and relax.
18:00 pm – Dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 6

6:00 am – Breakfast in El Tintal.
7:00 am – Depart for Flores.
12:30 pm – Arrive in Carmelita. Overnight stay in Flores.

Day 7

15:00 pm – Transfer to Flores Airport.
17:00 pm – Return flight to Guatemala City.
18:00 pm – Private Guinness shuttle from Guatemala City Airport to Antigua.

What to Bring

  • Personal backpack. (70L capacity)
  • Breathable pants. (Not jeans. Teflon and quick-dry clothing is recommended)
  • Long-sleeved shirts and/or blouses in light colors.
  • Waterproof jacket during rainy months.
  • Lightweight hiking boots. (Should be broken-in for at least 2 weeks prior)
  • 8 pairs of socks.
  • Bug repellent. (100% Deet)
  • Safari-style hat for sun protection.
  • Binoculars.
  • Personal medication. (Including cream to prevent chafing)
  • Flashlight or head lamp. (Battery capacity of 4 nights or extra batteries)
  • Canteen to carry water.
  • Camera and/or video recorder.
  • Swiss army knife.
  • Machete. (Can be purchased in country)
  • Sleeping bag. (Optional depending on terrain, it’s possible to sleep on hammocks which would be provided)
  • First-aid kit including anti-diarrheal medication, antibacterial cream for cuts, bandages, and sports wrap for twisted ankles etc.
  • Provided meals will be basic. If you have a special diet or require more protein please bring a supply of vacuum sealed food

Important Notes

The El Mirador itinerary is subject to change due to weather or terrain conditions. It is a high intensity, mixed route. The land is soft and muddy in the rainy season.

Average temperature is 36°C. (97°F)

Average humidity is 85%.

Vehicle transportation is used from the island of Flores to Petén and to Carmelita. Horseback and/or foot transportation is used from Carmelita to El Mirador.

Average distance traveled per day is 20 to 25 km. (5 to 6 hours)

You must be in excellent physical condition, and have the ability to ride a horse and/or to hike long distances. Horse transportation can be arranged at an additional fee. Riders must be able to ride for a minimum of 5 hours per day. Beginner riders are not recommended to go by horseback.

Travelers must take Malaria prevention medication as there is Malaria in this area.

Travelers will also need to be equipped with 100% Deet spray for clothing.

Food and water will be carried by mules.
