Day 1 – Arrival to Guatemala City and Transportation to Antigua Guatemala
Your Guatemala Highlights tour starts as you are picked up from the La Aurora Airport in Guatemala City or from your hotel in Guatemala City or Antigua Guatemala. Then, you will be transported to Antigua Guatemala.

Day 2 – Learn about the Culture of Antigua Guatemala
To start your trip into the Mayan world, you will learn about Antigua Guatemala on a tour.

Day 3 – Trek to Pacaya Volcano
The day’s unforgettable experience starts in nature as you trek to Pacaya Volcano, one of the active volcanoes in Guatemala. In the afternoon, after the hike, you will travel to the Lake Atitlán on a short trip to relax and enjoy the natural scenery.

Day 4 – Cultural and Local Activities in San Juan La Laguna
Throughout the day, you will travel around San Juan La Laguna, a small town with a variety of community and social projects that tell the history of the people. You will visit an organic coffee farm and a painting workshop, where you will learn how to use natural paints on textiles. Finally, you will get to see the wonderful landscape by boat.

Day 5 – Appreciate Beautiful Landscapes around Lake Atitlán and Travel to Quetzaltenango
You will start this amazing day seeing the stunning landscape of three volcanoes around Lake Atitlán. You will have a free morning to relax, and then you will cross the lake to go to Panajachel. In the afternoon, you will go to Quetzaltenango, the second most important city in Guatemala in terms of economy, culture, and central education. The city is also known by its Maya name, Xela. The trip takes around two hours or fewer, with wonderful landscapes of the highest mountains and volcanoes in Central America.

Day 6 – Acclimate and Go on a Walking Tour in Quetzaltenango (Xela)
The first day in Xela will be to get used to the altitude, 7654 feet (2,333 meters) above sea level. You will go on a walking tour to explore the city and and learn about the history, architecture, and daily life of the Maya Quiche people.

Day 7 – Go on an Easy Hike to Chicabal Lagoon and Volcano
You will learn about and explore the mysticism of the Maya Mam culture through a hike to Chicabal Lagoon and Volcano. The area is considered sacred in the Maya culture. The hike has a low level of difficulty and focuses on culture and birdwatching. In the afternoon, you will be to relax your muscles in the natural hot springs of Fuentes Georginas. This natural paradise of sulfur water comes from the nearby volcano.

Day 8 – Travel to Cobán
After a wonderful experience at the volcano and hot springs, you will travel to Cobán, a highland city. The trip takes a while and includes lovely stops to relax along the way.

Day 9 – Marvel at the Turquoise Waters of Semuc Champey
During the first day in Cobán, home to another natural paradise, we will explore Semuc Champey. This natural monument is famous for its caves, fast waters, and turquoise water pools coming from the Cahabón River.

Day 10 – Drive to Flores Petén
After the experience in Semuc Champey, you will drive to Flores Petén. You will be able to appreciate the beautiful landscape on this road trip. Your final destination of the day will be the lovely Flores Island.

Day 11 – Relax on Flores Island and Try Traditional Food
The first day is going to be relaxing, warm, and fun. You will walk around the island, try typical food, and store up energy the next day’s trip to ancient Maya ruins of Tikal.

Day 12 – Explore the Ancient Ruins of Tikal
This is the most anticipated day for archaeology and epigraphy lovers. Early in the morning, you will go to Tikal National Park, a conservation area for flora, fauna, and archaeology. You will enjoy a full day cultural tour with one of our expert guides on history and culture.

Day 13 – Discover the Maya Archaeological Site of Yaxha
To continue with history and archaeology, our second destination in Petén will be Yaxha, a Maya site constructed in the classic period. You will learn about the fascinating history of the Mayan civilization.

Day 14 – Tour Guatemala City and Visit an Archaeological Museum
As the trip starts to wrap up, you will return to and tour Guatemala City. You will take a flight from Flores Petén to the capital. Guatemala City is a cosmopolitan delight, home to wonderful museums and
recreation areas. In the afternoon, you will visit the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology, a perfect place to build on the knowledge you gained during your marvelous experiences in Tikal and Yaxha.

Day 15 – Finish your Adventure in Guatemala City’s Historical Center
To end your wonderful adventure, you will visit the historical Center of Guatemala City. This is where the trip ends, exactly in the place you started. Your Guatemala highlights tour ends with drop off at your hotel or at the airport in Guatemala City.
