Begin your Huehuetenango tour in the town of Chiantla, where you’ll visit an artisan workshop to watch master leather-workers crafting hand-made saddles and other leather goods.
From Chiantla, head to the trailhead at the base of Tajumulco Volcano and hike to a spectacular lookout. Weather permitting, you’ll have a stellar view of the entire Guatemalan high plain, as well other volcanoes rising up from the horizon.
After making your descent form Tajumulco Volcano, visit the Zaculeu archaeological site. This pre-Hispanic Mayan city boasts spectacular white stone pyramids, government buildings, and a ball court. With your guide, explore the expansive site and learn about the history of the Maya in Huehuetenango.
