Note: This tour requires a minimum of two people to book. Email us if you are solo and we can try and figure something out!
You’ll depart Antigua for the 7-8 hour drive up to the remote village of Lanquin in the Department of Alta Verapaz. You’ll be staying at the lovely and locally owned El Retiro Lodge, located right on the banks of the Cahabon River. The next morning, you’ll want to get up early to grab breakfast before the full day tour departs at 9 a.m. You’ll be riding out to the park in pure adventure style in the back of a pick-up (due to the road conditions). Once you’ve arrived, your local guide will lead you up the 45 minute climb to the Lookout Point for a fabulous photo op of the Caribbean blue pools you’re about to enjoy. Then you’ll proceed down to water level and have some free time to swim and recharge with your box lunch in the shade along the river.
The day holds yet more excitement – either you can continue to relax at the pools or the adventurous souls can enter the cave by candlelight – swimming and climbing your way to the back of the cave where you dare yourself to try the exhilarating cliff jump in to the abyss – purely optional I might add. You’ll arrive back to your lodge exhausted and ready to tuck in to the hearty family style meal that night!
Note: Choose between roundtrip transfers to/from Antigua or depart from Antigua to Semuc Champey and continue on to Flores. Package includes two nights lodging, complete Semuc Champey tour with local guide and box lunch. Onsite meals at the jungle lodge are not included
