For nature lovers, it is full of lush valleys and mountains to explore. And for those looking for a faster paced urban experience, you’ll look no further than the lively capital city of Havana. There is both incredible beaches and picturesque countryside for rest and relaxation. All in all, Cuba has something to offer anyone and everyone that want to experience a place unique to everywhere else in the world.
Day 1, Havana, Cuba: Your trip guide will greet you at Jose Marti airport in Havana. Following a warm welxome and brief overview of the city, you’ll enjoy a scenic ride through the Havana to your hotel. Once you are checked in and settled, you’ll start your exploration of Havana by being introduced to some of the artists, dancers, and musicians who have helped transform a depressed neighborhood into a living, breathing work of art. This will help you get to know and feel the pulsing undercurrent of Cuban life. You’ll also be introduced to popular culture, from son and salsa to santería—the island’s syncretic religion, which fuses African and Catholic faiths. Accommodation: Traditional Cuban Villa
Days 2-3, Havana Cuba: The day starts in Old Havana, where there is something for every curious traveler. You’ll see the Plaza de Armas, El Templete, La Catedral San Cristobal de la Habana and the Museo de la Revolución. However, most travelers admit that the highlight of the day is simply being a part of daily life in the city, and feeding off of the energy of the people. You’ll be fully immersed in the culture and commotion of the Havana. The day ends with a class on traditional Cuban cuisine, where you’ll learn about, and how to elaborate on 30 traditional plates. Day 4, Trinidad Cuba: Today you’ll venture with a restoration expert along the Caribbean coast to Trinidad, Cuba’s best preserved colonial city. Set off along its cobblestoned streets, pausing at colorful houses along the way to meet artisans, antiques collectors, and longtime residents who have transformed their historic homes into guesthouses, and then drive ten miles east of Havana to Ernest Hemingway’s home in Cuba- Finca Vigia, which means “lookout house”. Finca Vigia is located in the small, working-class town of San Francisco de Paula. You’ll read short stories from Hemingway and explore unique antiques throughout his home. Day 5-6, Cienfuegos Cuba: Today, you’ll travel to the historic Bay of Pigs, and learn about everything that happened back in 1961. On the way back to Havana, you’ll pay another visit to Finca Vigía, the former home of Ernest Hemingway, where you’ll be joined by an expert historian who will share a Cuban perspective on the strong connection between Hemingway and the Cuban people. Then, you’ll head to Cienfuegos, and explore Cuba’s oldest botanical garden with a botany expert, who will educate us about Cuba’s efforts to maintain the rich biodiversity of the country. You’ll stop by a sugar mill town and meet with some of the locals. If you’d like, you’ll have the chance to snorkel through the coastline reefs known as Notre Dame. The region’s calm waters are also ideal for boating, kayaking, and sailing. You’ll end the day with a traditional Trinidad dinner. There is a variety of food in Tobago. Trinbagonian cuisine is a rich mix of African, Indian, Chinese, European and Middle Eastern influences. Dine on the best cuisine with the best chefs in Trinidad and experience their culture through delicious food. Accommodation: Traditional Cuban Villa
Day 7, Vinales Cuba: Today you’ll visit the beautiful Vinales. Your local guide will take you to discover and learn about this blessed area, visiting natural lookouts and caves. You will learn about the fascinating world of the tobacco and of the local flora and fauna. Beyond experiencing the glorious nature of this region, you’ll also have the opportunity to relax, kayak, sail, or windsurf. You’ll end the day with an awesome parting dinner of traditional Cuban cuisine. You’ll cap off the night with an optional Cuban Salsa class, to give you one more treasure to take back home with you. Day 8, Havana Cuba: After a delicious breakfast, you’ll head to the airport tp return home.
