About me, Jenny:

After graduating college in 2007, I had wanted to volunteer abroad, but like so many do, I fell prey to the idea that I needed to pursue a career and get a “real job”. Now that I am about to go back for my MBA at the University of Michigan (go blue!), and I am dusting off that old idea of traveling abroad, learning more about another culture, experiencing new things, and trying to contribute in a meaningful way.

I chose Panama because one of my best friends from college, Ray, has been living in Panama City for the past 6 months while working at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute. As luck (or fate? or connections? whatever you want to call it) would have it, and after asking anyone and everyone I knew about Central America volunteerism and ecotourism, I discovered keteka. The plan is to travel with Ray on the weekends to the Panamanian site of our choice and spend the weekdays meandering to various existing or potential keteka ecotourism sites. I’ll be documenting my trip by blogging on keteka’s site and posting to ketekatravel instagram. Enjoy and please leave a comment if you have any questions or anything you’d like to share!
