Acapulco de Juarez, whose name comes from Nahuatl, is located on the Pacific coast in the state of Guerrero, in the southwest of the Mexican territory.
Historically Acapulco had great importance thanks to its port that had its most important function as a traffic center with Asian countries.
Its more ancient roots are documented in artifacts of the local pre-Columbian cultures, which date back to 3000 thousand years B.C. The tourist importance Acapulco won was during the 1960s and 1970s, as it was the first Mexican tourist destination that was prepared to receive both national and international mass tourism.
The location in a semicircular bay surrounded by the high mountains of the Sierra Madre, called Santa Lucia. Its beaches of 16 km of extension, turn Acapulco into a center of aquatic sports and familiar amusement. Although there is a great variety of beaches, the most important are La Playa Hicacos as the main beach and the beaches Caleta and pie de la Cuesta.

The temperatures remain pleasant all year round (around 28°C, 82°F), but the best months to visit Acapulco are from December to March.

You can go to Playa Icacos, Playa Condesa, Playa Diamante, Puerto Marques or Barra Vieja. There, you will be able to enjoy stunning and unforgettable sunsets. Visit La Quebrada de los Clavadistas: Many divers do their best to jump into the water from this cliff of about 35 meters high. This spectacle can be enjoyed at different hours during the afternoons. From this place you can also appreciate one of the most beautiful sunsets.
Visit the zócalo: Also known as the plaza, this is a place where you can find plenty of craft stalls. There you can buy many souvenirs from your trip and find many stalls of Mexican appetizers.This is where the Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Soledad is located.
Go to Barra Vieja: Although located a bit far from Acapulco, it is an area worth visiting for its great tranquility and food. There, you can find the region’s best fish.
